A Brief Introduction To Evaluation Department
Education Evaluation. Entrusted by the Ministry of Education and the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council (ADCSC),the Evaluation Department bears the responsibility for many national evaluation projects, including the communication appraisal of auditing the new units of granting doctor's and master's degrees, the communication appraisal of the newly-listed units of granting doctor's and master's degrees, the communication appraisal of regular evaluation of the units of granting doctor's degrees, the communication appraisal of national key disciplines, and the evaluation of the graduate schools of national colleges and universities,etc.
The Evaluation Department also undertake some special evaluation projects, including the communication appraisal of choosing excellent doctoral dissertations nationwide, and the appraisal and partial administration of its fund sponsoring; the communication appraisal of selecting "graduate textbooks"nationwide;the teaching quality evaluation of the specialized degrees such as MBA and MPA; and the evaluation of cooperative schooling project of granting degrees abroad, etc.
In addition, the Evaluation Department, society-orientedly and independently, develops and accepts the education evaluation and appraisal work entrusted by all walks of life. It undertakes the overall level evaluation of the national first-class disciplines (disciplinary evaluation in brief),and then publishes the evaluation results to the society, and provides the society and educational institutions with the related information service.
Scientific Researches and Evaluation Training. The Department organizes and develops researches on and practice in the fields of the basic theories of higher education evaluation, evaluation techniques and methods, and evaluation informationalization and networkedness.To improve the professional level of the personnel who are engaged in the education evaluation, the Department also organizes its managers to have some training in the above-mentioned fields. Besides, the Department takes the responsibility for the preparation,establishment,coordination,and administration of the National Evaluation Association of Academic Degrees and Graduate Education.
International Exchanges and Cooperation. The Evaluation Department actively develops international exchanges and cooperation in the fields of evaluation techniques, methods, and standards. To serve the China higher education towards the world,the Department has, through governmental or non-governmental channels,been trying to seek opportunities to cooperate with the U.S. and other countries in the field of higher education evaluation and accreditation and the field of professional standards of higher education evaluation.
